The Circular Economy Hotspot is an annual summit which brings together world-renowned experts and delegates from business, science and public initiatives. The 6th edition will be held in Bottrop and is organised by the City of Bottrop and the project Prosperkolleg which is shaping the transformation process towards circular value creation in the region. Furthermore the event is supported by the NRW Ministry of Economics.
For decades, mining and the consumption of coal and other fossil fuels drove the regional economy. The Prosper-Haniel mine in Bottrop was the last active coal mine in Germany and is still a witness of the region’s history. Today, Bottrop and North-Rhine Westphalia are moving forward and strive to become one of the the world’s greenest industrial region. Naturally, circular solutions have to play a decisive role in this transformation.
The Circular Economy Hotspot 2022 is the final event of the tour "Circular SMEs across Europe - Good practieces from Barcelona to Bottrop " which is co-organized by the Kompetenznetzwerk Umweltwirtschaft.NRW. We will also participate in Bottrop and are looking forward to the personal exchange with and for the circular economy.
